Post-production projects for the interrupted city The work is a reflection on the architectural project considered as an interpretation of the exisiting. If in the modernity the existing was thought as an obstacle to the development of the city (Le Corbusier’s Plan Voisin), in the 60th and 70th it becomes the premise for every urban transformation (E. N. Rogers, A. Rossi, V. Gregotti). The exisiting coincides today with the transformations’ sites and therefore starting from a buildings collection it becomes a sort of text that must be written and rewritten to start renaming places, suburbs and some parts of a degenerate housing. This is the main idea of our architectural research. The restoration of the existing landscape is considered as a field of transformative choices for the project1. The existing should be considered as a subject, as a changing body that must be alterated with the intent to rebuild a collective imagination generated by “postproduction” (N. Bourriaud). This last term, borrowed from the audiovisual language referring to a way of action that uses as raw material the existing cultural material, comes, re-built and re-edited, from the works of other artists and at the same time from the communication world and media system. Postproduction identifies the contemporary work of art as “ a site of navigation “, a “ generator of activity “ whose instruments are the cultural re-appropriation, recycling, détournement and sampling, editing and dubbing.
