Digitalization is not only a cornerstone of sustainable development but also essential to the success of many micro, small, and mediumsized firms. Therefore, adequate information security and cybersecurity are vital. Limited resources create challenges for those actors’ security efforts. Sometimes, they lack an understanding of their core businesses and the critical information needed to keep them operational. At other times, there is awareness but no clear idea which option among many suits their size and business, or a belief that security is purchased from a software provider, with the provider solely responsible for it. Recently, and ongoing, the translation and implementation of several regulations and directives have provided additional challenges.
The ISSUES project has strengthened capacity on security issues by offering engagement and knowledge-sharing activities. Some of these interactive activities are detailed in this report. Because digital security is constantly evolving and SMEs ' businesses are likely evolving as well, the project ' s main advice is to ask good questions rather than rely on outdated answers.
