BIOGRAPHY
David Murenzi also known as David Berg is
a musician and a photographic artist who
specializes in evocative and portrait images of
the living world. Born in Kigali, Rwanda in
1995, he first used the camera to documents
life in Rwanda during his teenager’s age.
In 2010, during holidays, he began
photographing people, and within a short
time he had swapped his established city
career for the precious life of an international
travelling photographer. David Murenzi’s
concern for the environment is strong evident
in his wildlife images. He strives to capture
people’s spirit, and blur the lines separating
different species. His photographs of people
reveal a compassionate understanding of his
subjects.
He has won local awards for his work,
including The Best Photographer at Rwanda
Youth Awards. He has had a number of
exhibitions, both current and in the planning
stage, including large outdoors exhibitions in
city centers. The free outdoors exhibitions,
promoting environmental issues, are major
events staged in conjunction with city
authorities, and attract visitor’s numbers in
the hundreds.
His venture into people photography was a
continuation of his exploration of different
genres of photography, and it struck a chord
with the general public. His goal was to use
images to communicate with the masses, and
take photography exhibition outside galleries.
David Murenzi is currently based in Kigali.
He is also available for travel assignments
departing Kigali City.
