You have designed conceptual homes and spaces which are beautiful. How do you make the homes look clean yet fully functional? And do you make it environmentally friendly? Homes can indeed look clean but beautiful and complex for the reason stated previously – I avoid ornaments. You can develop a system of aesthetics based on a theme, structures and patterns and then apply it to various spaces. When creating furniture design - you tend to create futuristic and stylized designs. When creating a product or products for a home. What do you look out for when creating a masterpiece like the Locust or Nebula Lounger? These and similar designs in my portfolio represent the direction of one-off objects which are not meant for serial production, but as expensive ventures into what is possible – but very challenging to manufacture with materials as metal and acrylic. In your bio - you stated that you have designed retail displays such as SK-II, Tag Heuer, etc. Do you look at the culture of the company before designing the piece or do you follow just the brief? Yes, you have to study history and culture of the company, you have to understand their identity, where they are coming from and where they are trying to get. Brief is very important as well, we know David Ogilvy has stressed reading briefs until you drop and then some more. Well written briefs can contain information which you might put into correct per-pective only after reading them on numerous occassions during different stages of the concepting process.
