speare’s silent awareness. That quality is how close he
was to the source of inspiration. Higher conscious-
ness is only about this one thing, living closer to the
source. We undertake different things in our lives,
but universally, the closer you are to the source of
pure consciousness, the more you can access every-
thing consciousness can give.
Q8. You end “Metahuman” with a 31-day guide
to becoming metahuman. Why was this guide
such an integral aspect of the book for you?
DC: Heady concepts have to be brought down to
earth. The whole process of waking up is meaning-
less unless you experience it personally. That was the
purpose behind the exercises at the end. They give
you the direct experience of going beyond.
Q9. Your “Never Alone” movement aims to
build communities that encourage and empow-
er young adults to reach out to a friend who
may be struggling with their mental health, as
suicide is currently the second leading cause
of death among those age 10 - 34. Tell us more
about this initiative, about the film “The Of-
fering”, how people can get involved, and your
goals for the #NeverAlone movement?
DC: The Never Alone Movement is a global support
group for suicide prevention and mental well-being.
The film “I Am Never Alone” is meant to increase
awareness of depression as a global epidemic which
can be largely prevented by decreasing the loneliness
that is pervasive today.
Q10. What personally inspires and drives you?
DC: In many ways it is the usual things, such as love
of family, zest for new experiences, curiosity, and
the desire to engage with people. But, there’s anoth-
er ingredient that took me years to realize. I have
been fascinated by consciousness for as long as I can
remember. I didn’t realize how unusual this fascina-
tion is, but I’d say it is the most important thing that
inspires me.
