public to share their precious memories of the Center. We invite everyone them to contribute photographs,

12. With your experience in being the president of Ballet Philippines and working in the
Philippine tourism sector - what avenues are you going to take CCP into 2020/2021?
ANSWER: Right now, we are focusing in celebrating our 50th anniversary. It will run from September this
year until September of next year. We have so many activities in store for everyone.
Aside from that, we are looking forward to opening the Black Box Theater or the Tanghalang Ignacio
Gimenez, named after our generous donor.
The new theater for experimental and cutting-edge productions is part of the CCP Complex Development
Plan. Through this plan, the CCP is envisioned to be the centre for arts and culture in Asia, serving primarily
the artistic expression of the Filipino soul and spirit. The CCP Board and its employees are doing everything
they can to make this plan a reality.
13. When it comes to media attention- CCP has its up and its downs when it comes to journalists
within the country and outside the country. What’s your vision to maintain its credibility?
ANSWER: I don’t believe that the CCP has its up and downs when it comes to the media. In fact, it has had a
very good relationship with the media. Throughout its life, the CCP has always prioritized providing media
with news that is worthy of publication---timely, relevant, truthful information.
Rather than having problems with media, the CCP instead has a problem with its image. It is said that it is
elitist and only for the rich people. This is an image brought about by, firstly, its association with the former
First Lady Imelda Marcos, and secondly, because of the wrong notion that art is only for the rich.
Through the years, especially since the EDSA Revolution,
the CCP has worked hard to improve its public image
It has worked to bring the arts to the people across the
country, to make arts accessible to all, to make the arts
matter to the life of Filipinos, which is its mission.
14. Lastly, which artist or performer does Margarita
Moran-Floirendo personally love and why?
ANSWER: I love to watch the dancers of Ballet Philippines
perform because they are excellent performers in
technique and lyricism. I spent 9 years as its President and
have watched their growth as a dancer from scholars to
company members, to soloists to principal dancers. I take
pride that the Company has become an institution with a
remarkable body of work in its 50 year history
