ANSWER: CCP has been bringing and collaborating with international performers since it has been established. For instance, Ballet Philippines, CCP resident dance company, opens its 50th season with Swan Lake, featuring guest performers from the Marinsky Theater (Kirov Ballet) who will essay these most-sought after ballet roles along with our homegrown talents. The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), the resident orchestra company of the CCP, has been bringing in internationally-renowned conductors and soloists. Last year, we have Japanese pianist Ryu Goto who performed Vivaldi’s Four Season at the Manila Cathedral with the PPO. This year, we are hosting the 4th Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, which happens every two years. PPP Collaboration is always a good thing because it means people getting together, throwing their ideas at each other, picking the good ones and executing them and creating good art. Different energies, different cultures, different traditions, different orientations, different points of views, different talents -- all these make for an exciting synergy in art making. 10. You are hosting a major conference for the Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres (AAPPAC) with guests coming from within Asia and the rest of the world. What would be subject matter of the conference and what is the role of CCP within the conference and what would be the overall outcome? ANSWER: We are hosting the first Manila International Performing Arts Summit. Under the Summit, we have three flagship events - the conference for the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centers (AAPPAC), the gathering of Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP), and the Manila International Performing Arts Market x CREATE PH (MIPAM x CREATEPH). These events will simultaneously happen from September 19 to 22, 2019. The AAPPAC event will shed light on how performing arts centers can impact and influence the consumption of cultural content in the Asia Pacific region, and how the synergy between hubs, centers, districts and cities jointly contribute to the development of the performing arts industry in the region. These questions and more will be discussed in the annual conference and gathering of prominent and internationally reputable performing arts centres, art venues and culture and arts organizations from the Asia Pacific regions, happening on September 20-22, 2019 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Founded in 1996, AAPPAC aims to establish the Asia Pacific region as a leader in the performing arts industry. Currently, it has more than 70 members from over 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region comprised of prominent and internationally reputable performing arts centres, art venues and culture and arts organizations. The Cultural Center of the Philippines is one of the founding members of AAPPAC. FACP, meanwhile, aims to attract impresarios, presenters, festival programmers and content providers interested in networking, exchange and cultural promotion initiatives between Asia and the rest of the world. There will be sessions on various topics including innovation in performing arts production and presenting and festival strategies for millennial audiences, among others. MIPAM x CREATE PH gathers artists, cultural operators, promoters, producers and impresarios from international performing arts markets and festival and help them establish possible future partnerships. This is in collaboration with the DTI-CITEM. The MIPAM x CREATE PH is a good venue to introduce talented artists, not just from the Philippines but from across the region, and promote them in the performing arts community in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific. 11.
