1. You have played an integral part in promoting Philippine culture and diversity especially when you were appointed by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte as Chairwoman and Board of Trustee to the Cultural Centre of the Philippines (CCP). Firstly, what was that like to be appointed by the President of the Philippines and secondly what is it like to manage the Cultural Center of the Philippines? ANSWER: CCP has always been in the f orefront of nation-building through artistic productions, arts education and training, and audience development. Being its chairperson is such a gargantuan task. My vision is to make CCP a financially-sustainable the institution, so I’m looking into public-private partnership to actively participate in shaping and realizing the vision of a renewed cultural complex. 2. The Philippines is known for its cultural diversity, in particular coming from Europe, parts of Asia and the USA. How do you believe that these cultures affected the current Philippine culture and climate of the country? ANSWER: We have so many influences, and these influences have enriched our heritage. In a way, the Philippines thrives on its diversity, especially in the arts and culture. 3. What do you do as chairwoman of CCP and what are your plans for CCP’s future? ANSWER: As the CCP chairperson, I have the responsibility to foster the long-term viability of the Center and secure its sustained competitiveness in a manner consistent with its fiduciary responsibility and in the best interest of the CCP. It also includes approving corporate operating budget and supplemental budgets, as well as finding the right person to fill in the vacancies in the Board. Together with the CCP Board, it is my duty to identify key risk areas and key performance indicators and monitoring these with due diligence. I need to periodically evaluate and monitor the implementation of the CCP’s strategies and policies, business plans and operating budgets as well as management’s overall performance to ensure optimum results. As for the plans, I hope to ensure a continued professional development program for the CCP employees and officers, as well as adopt a succession planning for senior management. I want to make sure that the CCP has a healthy organization by providing sound policies and strategies to help with policy decision-making and capital expenditure. 4. 2019 is CCP’s 50th Year Anniversary - what is on the schedule for CCP in the Philippines and are you planning to tour outside of the Philippines? ANSWER: The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is the premiere venue to showcase the best arts in the Philippines. This year, we are celebrating our 50th anniversary. Since it was founded in 1969, CCP has been producing and presenting music, dance, theater, visual arts, literary, cinematic and design events from the Philippines and all over the world.
