launched officially their remarkable
Mumm Grand Cordon Stellar, an
innovative feat of technology, which
makes it possible for space travellers
and astronauts to enjoy champagne
in the challenging environment of
zero gravity. Therefore, setting the
new record for being the first
champagne bottle in the world made
for space travel.
The fruit of the 3-year partnership
along with Spade – a young agency
specialising in space design –
Mumm Grand Cordon Stellar utilises
a groundbreaking new glass and
bottle concept to change life in
space. That makes it a high-tech
champagne accessible all in the near
future.
Last September 2018, the pioneering
champagne brand Maison Mumm, along with its CEO and the famous Usain Bolt, set a new
groundbreaking record. The launch of the Cordon Stellar became the very first champagne to be
enjoyed in zero gravity, a beyond compare step.
Pushing the limits of daring has been part of the DNA of Mumm since the brand was established
in 1827, and its current creation is incredibly daring. You see, Mumm Grand Cordon Stellar spent
3 years of experimentation and research to bring the project in reality. It is the outcome of the
partnership between Jean-François Clervoy, a French ESA astronaut, and Octave de Gaulle from
design agency SPADE. The agency specialises in making things for use in space.
The dare of enjoying superb champagne is more complicated than one might think. You will find a
lot of key considerations like the specifications, the tasting ritual, and respecting the champagnes
aromas. This doesn’t include the restraints an absence of gravity could have on a gaseous liquid.
Oenologists, astronauts, researchers, and engineers were all obliged. Along with these combined
skills of the dynamics of capillary action and fluids, they were able to know the terrestrial
behaviours of the champagne.
