2.In your bio you state having a pocket
square is a subtle way to add and transform
an outfit. What’s your rule of thumb when
changing someone’s outfit and even
confidence?
The main rule of thumb for me personally is to
ensure that any individual we advise feels
comfortable in what they’re wearing. It’s the
details that will ultimately get someone noticed
and give them that confidence boost but what
we tend to find is that people adding those
accessories like pocket
squares for the first time are
generally a lot more
conservative with their
design and fold choices.
Once they see the difference
a tiny little thing like a pocket
square can make though
they tend to become a little
more adventurous with their
choices. The key is not
dropping them in the deep
end too soon and just
helping them ease into it so
they feel comfortable at all
times.
3. When did you start
Rampley & Co. and what
are the companies
adventures for the future?
We launched officially in
December 2014 and have
seen really strong growth
over the last few years.
Menswear tends to be quite conservative and a little boring and so we’re trying to
produce really interesting pieces that tell a story. In terms of what’s coming, we
have a lot of product launches including into some new exciting areas such as
jacket linings this year. We’re also seeing a big rise in the demand for bespoke
pieces unique to the individual customer.
4. In the fashion industry - what fashion editors look for is ‘colour blocking’. Do
you believe it to be true?
I’d say we do generally see this but it’s not something we adhere to. We produce
pieces that we think add something interesting and different to our collection and
we’re not driven by particular colour trends.
