John Simpson , is originally from Belfast but now lives in Newton Stewart . Montpelier Galloway are chartered accountants that operate throughout the region . John recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine ,
“ Dumfries and Galloway have quite a few rugby clubs offering a great opportunity for young and old to become involved within their local communities . My own son plays over at Stewartry and one of the things I have always liked about rugby clubs , certainly at mini and junior level , is that they tend to include as much as possible all those that turn up on game day . This isn ’ t always the case with other sports where team sheets are sent out and only those picked tend to turn up and participate . As a company we do like to support local sport and have been sponsors of Newton Stewart for a few years now . I would like to congratulate everyone at Newton Stewart RFC on once again being recognised for their outstanding contribution to rugby and wish them the very best for many more seasons to come !”

Timber and Builders Merchants
Serving Wigtownshire , Dumfries & Galloway and South West Scotland
At Penkiln we have a very efficient sawmilling unit designed for adaptability and for speed of response to the demands of a wide variety of customers . We cater for the delivery and service of smaller quantity orders as well as large scale demands .
Alongside the timber we stock a full and ever-expanding range of building and fencing products to suit trade and DIY customers . wan Dewar started his rugby career in the Newton

E Stewart`s mini section when a friend`s dad invited him along to club many years ago , he told Rugby Club Mag ,

“ I hung my boots up a few seasons ago after working my way through the teams to our 1st XV , although i did sit on the bench recently when we were short of players . The style of rugby played by the 1st XV is very fast and flowing and you can see that they are always looking to hit their wingers in that expansive type of play which is great to watch . Even in the games were we have lost , and usually by not to many point , there has been a great effort by the boys and the result hasn ’ t mattered so much because the entertainment
value has been so high . With such a small squad its inevitable that challenges will arise but for such a small club they really do punch above their weight in a very competitive league .
The rugby club is a real hub of our community and caters for everyone . Some members who perhaps don ’ t get down as often due to other commitments will still attend our SONS days and keep connected with the club . Our business Penkiln Sawmill have sponsored the club for many years now and we have always liked to put something back into the club . I would like to congratulate Newton Stewart RFC on all they have achieved over such a short history and wish them all the very best for the rest of the 21- 2022 season !”
