Head coach Ewen Boyd told Rugby Club Magazine .
“ The positive atmosphere we experience at Caithness Rugby Club has been largely created by opening the club up to the women ’ s team which delivers a far more balanced playing group , committee and outlook rather than focus on one senior team .
We have produced numerous Caledonian representatives and half a dozen age group national players with Roman Shephard representing Scotland .
The people of Caithness are proud of their club competing at a national level and recognise the effort and hard work that goes into
maintaining our facilities , the selfless effort of our youth team coaches and the openness of the club allows them to be part of something
which embodies a community effort .
The goal of the senior men was to develope the young players who had misse out on u18 rugby due to Covid , stabilise numbers and bring a level of fun and enjoyment to the club , the barometer of this is the numbers turning out at training which have been unprecedented and the development of a competitive second team .”

Mairi Vines of club sponsor Pollard Property recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine ,
“ I was raised in Thurso and have always been involved in sport since I was young , these days I try and fit in 2 or 3 games of squash a week to stay in shape . I have 3 children who also enjoy sport Alex aged 8 , Maggie 6 and Scott who is 5 . Both Maggie and Scott are involved with rugby at Caithness while Alex loves his football and cubs .
Its great that the club offers access to their facilities for events within our local community , there isn ’ t a lot of other venues available in Caithness . Coaching is also free and offers the children great fun and health with their friends . Caithness Rugby Club is a fabulous focal point for local people and it ’ s great that they are being recognised in Rugby Club Mag .
I have to say that women ’ s rugby at the club is thriving and very inspiring to me ; being a mum myself I understand that your time isn ’ t your own a lot whilst looking after a family . Some of my friends got involved with ladies rugby and its really heart-warming to see how the club friendships have made such a difference in their lives . Sending best wishes to everyone at Caithness Rugby Club for many more years to come-keep up the good work ! ”
