We believe this move will be the start of something really big for sport in Otley , not just for rugby . There is huge potential for many other of the existing sporting clubs and generations of young people to come to benefit from the new facilities over time .
Chris Hull is the Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire , he knows the region well . A local man with a young family , he recently took time out of his busy schedule to talk about his positive association with Otley Rugby Club ,
” Being local and a parent I know how important community life is to everyone ’ s families and their friendships . Otley RFC is a real hub in our local community and is steeped in a history that epitomise its many values .
It was over 10 years ago now that I encouraged Persimmon Homes to look at the benefits we could provide through development of the club and the subsequent and positive impact I felt it would have on the local area . We are not just house builders at Persimmon , and we recognise the essential value in community wellbeing . Planning situations like the one at Otley Rugby do take time however , Leeds City Council have been supportive and very helpful during the process .
As a company we have sponsored the club for many years and I am therefore aware of the fabulous season the seniors and other teams are enjoying as well as the focused and exceptional work the club and their members , fans and players provide to our young and older people alike .
Otley Rugby Club have an abundance of great people steering their ship and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on being recognised for their outstanding contribution to local sport and hope their plans will secure the clubs future for many more generations to come !”
