Richard Burnett recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his long and positive association with Anselmians Rugby Club ,
” When I returned from University in the North East of England I was invited to join the club and play some which I duly did . My playing career lasted up until I was 40 and usually as a 2nd row forward .
I am currently a director in the legal firm HM ( Hillyer McKeown ) which operates throughout the Wirral , Liverpool and Chester regions . We have been proud sponsors of the club for the past 8 years . Many businesses involved with Anselmians are also clients of ours so sponsoring the club allows us to give something back and support the great work the club carries out both on and off the park .
These days it is more important than ever that successful rugby clubs have a commercial focus if they wish to compete successfully and survive ; balancing the books is a necessary and essential foundational part of this ! Rugby clubs don`t run themselves they require a solid plan and many hands-on volunteers who are willing and able to put in the necessary work and go beyond the cause to ensure continued growth .
Anselmians are blessed with a plethora of people willing to step up however more are always needed and welcomed . Their excellent new facilities coupled with their ongoing development plans are vital parts towards maintaining a healthy existence .
