Breedon continues expansion at DurhamGate

DurhamGate is supporting the continued expansion of national construction materials company Breedon Group with new office space .

Developer Arlington Real Estate has agreed letting terms with Breedon Group for 4,500 sq ft of newly refitted office space at No 1 DurhamGate , which sits at the entrance to DurhamGate , Spennymoor .
Arlington welcomed Breedon Group in February following a bespoke fitout of the offices to meet their operational requirements .
Breedon Group , which is an AIMlisted company with its headquarters in Leicestershire , employs 3,500 of which 300 are based in the North-East .
It produces cement , aggregates , asphalt , ready-mixed concrete , Welsh slate and specialist concrete and clay products .

An ambitious continence product supplier will be taking to the national airwaves in the new year with the help of a six-figure investment .
Lylalife supplies a range of high-quality urinary incontinence products which are delivered directly and discreetly to customers , with a monthly repeat order service available alongside one-off purchases .
Founded 18 months ago , the Durhamheadquartered business has so far only advertised its products through Facebook , but has already managed to build a customer base of over 5,000 buyers right across the UK .

Relocating from its current office in Raisby Quarry , Coxhoe , the facilities at DurhamGate will create much needed additional capacity for the business , which has grown significantly in the past year .
Having completed the acquisitions of part of Cemex and Express Minimix , its current premises were no longer able accommodate its expanded team .
This latest addition represents another important part of Arlington ’ s evolving masterplan for DurhamGate , which further builds on the success of the mixed-use community located five miles from Durham City .
It follows the announcement of plans for a new Durham Police building bringing 299 jobs and a purpose-built care home , which will create a further 58 jobs , highlighting growing and diverse community at DurhamGate .

And after working with regional fund management firm NEL Fund Managers to secure the £ 100,000 Small Loan Fund investment , Lylalife is now aiming to increase this number to 50,000 over the next two years .
Small businesses in County Durham are being invited to borrow an electric van , to experience for themselves the benefits of going green .
Durham County Council ’ s low carbon economy and fleet teams are offering short-term loans of electric vans to small and medium sized businesses , to help reduce their carbon emissions and fuel costs .
The vans , which will be free to loan for up to three weeks , are being funded by the council as part of its response to the climate emergency .
The scheme aims to encourage smaller businesses to cut their carbon emissions , a task which they typically find more difficult than larger businesses , as they do not have the resources to employ specialist energy advisers .
