Academic Program Coordinator

Dr Niva Kaspi explains the role of a scholarship framework

at Edith Cown College.

Into the frame

What is your role at ECC?

In my role as Academic Program Coordinator with Edith Cowan College, I oversee the running of three Diploma courses in our Pathway Program. I also provide leadership in the areas of Scholarship and Learning and Teaching. Being a WA Branch Committee Member of HERDSA nicely supplements this part of my role as I get to interact with a community of academics engaged in the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching.

Could you also give us a bit about your work background? How long have you been with ECC?

I started with ECC (then PIBT) as a Casual Lecturer some 18 years ago (!) and was later appointed the Program Coordinator for Commerce, Hotel Management, and Communication & Creative Industries. During my time with ECC I completed a PhD in Literature/Translation and have since been moonlighting as a literary translator in my spare time. I was happy to take on the Scholarship role when I realised I was hopelessly infected with the research bug.
