Build your future workforce with NSCG apprenticeships

For businesses looking to build a skilled workforce for the future, apprenticeships offer a practical way to develop talent while giving young people the opportunity to take their first steps on the career ladder.
At Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group( NSCG), we work closely with employers to recruit and develop apprentices across a wide range of industries, providing businesses with the support they need at every stage of the apprenticeship journey.
And with new government incentives now available, there has never been a better time for eligible employers to consider taking on an apprentice.
From 1st October, eligible non-levy employers recruiting a new employee aged 16-24 could receive a £ 2,000 hiring payment, while a £ 1,000 incentive is also available to eligible employers recruiting 16 – 18-year-olds. Employers also benefit from no National Insurance contributions for employees aged 16 – 24, subject to the relevant eligibility criteria and government terms and conditions.
For employers, an apprenticeship is about much more than filling a vacancy. It is an opportunity to nurture new talent, develop skills that are tailored to your organisation and invest in someone who can grow with your business. Apprentices bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, while learning the specific processes, standards and culture of the organisation they are joining. For many businesses, this makes apprenticeships an important part of developing a sustainable workforce and addressing future skills needs.
For young people, it can be the start of a rewarding career- combining valuable on-the-job experience with the knowledge and qualifications they need to progress.
NSCG has recently introduced a new Level 2 Administration Assistant apprenticeship, specifically aimed at 16 – 24-year-olds looking to step into the world of work. It provides a valuable entry point, with the potential to progress to a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. Assessment is completed through project work, helping apprentices develop practical skills that can be applied directly in the workplace.
The progression doesn’ t have to stop there. The Level 3 route can provide a pathway towards a Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship, supporting ambitious learners to continue developing their skills and take on greater responsibility. It demonstrates how an apprenticeship can provide a structured journey, allowing an individual to build confidence, experience and qualifications over time.
This approach to progression is reflected across many of the apprenticeship programmes available through NSCG. Apprentices can continue their development through higher and degree apprenticeships in sectors including accountancy, engineering, civil engineering and construction, enabling them to gain higher-level qualifications while continuing to build their professional experience and contribute to their employer.
NSCG is also currently enrolling for Higher Apprenticeships for Quality Practitioners, offering employers another opportunity to develop existing or new employees at a higher level while addressing the specialist skills their organisation needs.
For employers, this means an apprenticeship can be the beginning of a long-term talent pipeline rather than simply a first job for a young person. Whether you are looking to recruit someone new, upskill an existing employee or develop specialist expertise within your organisation, there are apprenticeship routes to support different stages of a career.
And businesses do not have to navigate the process alone. NSCG’ s Apprenticeship Team can help employers understand the options available, find the right apprenticeship for their organisation and support them throughout the process. From recruitment through to completion, the team is on hand to make taking on an apprentice as straightforward as possible.
With financial support available and a growing range of apprenticeship pathways, businesses can take action now to develop the skilled workforce they will need for tomorrow.
