Morrison signs on at Hammonds

A fruitful period has continued for Hammonds Band , which has announced the signing of Alan Morrison on soprano cornet .
The legendary performer joins after a spell with City of Hull and is the latest in a series of new recruits to join the ranks at Hammonds , including Kirsty Abbotts on principal cornet .
Reflecting on his appointment , Alan commented : “ I am delighted to be taking on the position of soprano cornet with the Hammonds Band , a band with a rich banding history and one that is building big for the future .
“ I would like to thank all at City of Hull ; despite COVID-19 , I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the band .”

Foden ' s in People ' s Postcode boost

Alan Morrison is making a cornet playing comeback , signing for Hammonds Band on soprano .
Jagger , who has given around seven years of commitment to the organisation .
Morgan Griffiths , musical director of Hammonds Band , said : “ We have been rebuilding with purpose over the past few months . Alan is a wonderful addition to the cornet section , led by Kirsty Abbotts .”
Alan had been due to make his debut with Hammonds at the British Open ; it will now happen at an alternative date .

New faces welcome at Foden ' s Youth

Foden ’ s Band showed no signs of slowing down during the festive period , with the Sandbach organisation receiving another funding boost .
As it begins 2022 , the National champion band of Great Britain is inviting more young players to join in the fun at its youth and junior bands .
Foden ’ s has been successful in an application to the People ’ s Postcode Trust , and will receive £ 4,485 to purchase recording and streaming equipment .
The equipment will be a major benefit to the entire Foden ’ s organisation , including the junior and youth bands , enabling them to further enhance the online presence they have cultivated over the past couple of years .
Speaking about the award , Foden ’ s Band ’ s Mark Wilkinson commented : “ We are extremely grateful to the People ’ s Postcode Trust for accepting our application , which allows us to stream rehearsals and concerts from our bandroom as well as to record as a preparation aid for concerts and contests .
“ It ’ s also great news for both our junior and youth bands , which will be able to access the

equipment so that parents can watch rehearsals and performances from the comfort of their home .
“ The award will allow us to increase our online presence around the world , as well as to produce new and exciting content .”
Based in Sandbach , Cheshire , the Foden ’ s Youth and Junior bands meet 10 times per year , with tutors and conductors from Foden ’ s providing guidance and inspiration for the young musicians .
The year 2022 is a significant milestone , marking the 10th anniversary since the formation of the Foden ’ s Youth Band with a new commission from Jonathan Bates to feature Foden ’ s , Foden ’ s Youth and Foden ’ s Junior Bands performing on stage together in July .
Budding members should be : Junior Band ( grade two-five standard and age 18 or under ); Youth Band ( grade five-plus and age 21 or under ).
