Butlin ' s deadline extended

The deadline for entering the 2022 Butlin ' s Open Brass Band Festival has been extended by four weeks in order to allow bands sufficient time to make arrangements to enter the contest .
All applications to perform will need to be submitted via the Brass Bands England website by midnight on Saturday , November 20 . This includes entries in for all sections , youth bands , solo entries and small ensembles .
The Butlin ’ s Open Brass Band Festival is due to take place from January 7-10 , 2022 , at the resort in Skegness .
Through the Butlin ’ s partnership with Brass Bands England , BBE member organisations will receive a £ 25 discount on their fee , bringing entry down to just £ 50 per band .
In addition to the entertainment and facilities , the festival will feature live performances from an array of artists and bands . The defending

Carlton Main in principal cornet search champion The Flowers Band and defending youth band champion Youth Brass 2000 take to the stage on January 7 , followed by Chris Dean ' s Syd Lawrence Orchestra and Backstage Brass on January 8 .

The following day , members of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain will reunite in a special Reunion Band , which has been assembled by Robert Childs , himself a former
member . The concert will celebrate the band ’ s rich musical history , featuring music written by a variety of past musical directors along with performances from an array of amazing soloists , including Kirsty Abbotts , Brett Baker , Alan Morrison , John Storey and James McLeod .

Applications are welcome for the role of principal cornet with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band .
The Yorkshire organisation is looking for someone to occupy the position following the recent decision by Kirsty Abbotts to step down after 19 years in the hotseat .
A spokesperson for Carlton Main said : “ The successful applicant has the opportunity to join Carlton Main at a very exciting time , with a fantastic concert and contest diary including appearances at Brass in Concert , the British Open and Yorkshire Regionals under the leadership of the band ’ s professional conductor , Allan Withington .”
Carlton Main is looking to regroup following disqualification at the recent National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain .

Champions of Brass set for debut

A band comprising legendary brass players is to take to the stage in Slaithwaite for its inaugural concert .
Champions of Brass will perform at St James Church on December 12 , with the concert starting at 7pm .
Among those involved in the line-up are Alan Morrison , Kevin Crockford , Lucy Cutt , Nick Hudson , Morgan Griffiths , Michael Dodd ,
Peter Christian and Shaun Crowther . They will perform under the direction of Garry Cutt for what is expected to be an exciting evening of music making .
The compere for the evening will be David Hoyle of BBC Radio Leeds ’ Yorkshire Brass .
