AYCLIFFE FIRM TO HELP COLLEGE WITH GROUNDBREAKING ‘ ROBOT LAB ’

Tutors have been given a tantalising glimpse of the technology heading towards their college that will transform the way the next generation of students learn and work .

Darlington College placement coach Tomos Ellis and business development advisor Paul Clark were taken on a tour of Cobots Online , the Aycliffe-based robotics specialists helping them with the latest phase of development for learners .
The college is developing a robotics automation training facility , electric vehicle workshop , technical support lab and a business hub for professional qualifications in a major boost for students and apprentices .

Cobots Online is part of ALM , a cubicle hardware manufacturer on Aycliffe Business Park , and was born when it invested in cobots .
Business development manager Mark Thompson said : “ It ’ s great that the college is now becoming involved so students can receive hands-on learning .
“ Industry is moving on and cobots will allow the UK to compete on the global stage as they reduce the cost of labour .”

BURTREE BIRTHDAY National caravan and motorhome dealer Kimberley is celebrating ten years of business near Newton Aycliffe since taking over the well-known seven-acre site at Burtree Gate in 2012 .
As the only Kimberley branch in the North-East , the Burtree branch has become an integral northern base for the dealer over the last decade and the source of lifelong memories for many long-standing customers and staff .
Kimberley is the fourth dealer to have occupied the site since it first opened in the early 1960 ’ s , which predates the businesses formation in 1981 .
COUNCIL TO INVEST MILLIONS Plans to invest millions of pounds in frontline services , including highways , streets , parks and nature reserves , have been agreed by County Durham councillors .
A report to councillors detailed various investments to improve green spaces , country parks and help achieve the council ’ s target to reduce its carbon emissions .

Discovering Durham – which is run by passionate entrepreneurs Liza Johnson of The Tea Enthusiasts , Dawn Wilson of The Glass Raven and Matty Booth , who founded the Working Hand Brewery – supports over 70 producers from across the County Durham area who are looking to increase awareness of their products .
