Take a seat – an example of the Plastic Furniture Company ’ s products .
AT THE TOP TABLE
Looking for outdoor furniture ? Take a seat . Let Patrick Connolly tell you about his rebranded company , increasingly the North-East ’ s established name in high-quality street furniture .
Whether it ’ s bins , outdoor
seating , tables or storage , they ’ ve got the lot . It ’ s all made from plastic and the wide range is helping save the planet , with a major focus on recycled products .
Formerly known as Theme Bins International , the business has undergone a rebranding exercise to a name that more accurately describes what they do . Ladies and gentlemen , let us introduce you to The Plastic Furniture Company .
It does what it says on the tin . “ Ha , ha !” laughs Irishman-cum-adopted-North- Easterner Patrick . “ Someone beat us to that slogan but that ’ s right .
“ Theme Bins International no longer reflected our full range . The company started out making novelty bins but we ’ ve expanded to all types of quality outdoor plastic furniture .”
Patrick and his team are confident that their expanding range of outdoor furniture is the perfect solution for hospitality businesses as they emerge from lockdown and look to capitalise on outdoor trading .
“ Our outdoor tables and chairs are exceptional products and we ’ re hopeful there ’ ll be a big demand post-Covid , but we ’ re looking longer term too ,” says Patrick .
In a bid to catch the new wave of online buying , the company has a brand new
website and branding to match the new name .
And they ’ ve responded to a growing demand for environmentally friendly products by investing in recycled and recyclable materials .
'' We are growing our 100 per cent recycled range ,'' explains Patrick . “ We have been manufacturing 100 per cent recycled furniture for some time but with the growing demand , it ’ s time to start shouting about it .
“ Plastics got itself a bad name recently , but the real problem is single-use plastic , those things we use and throw away . The sector has a responsibility to become part of the solution . It ' s doing that and we ’ re a big part of it , recycling what would have been waste plastics to create new products that would previously have gone to landfill .
“ But I really believe in plastic . We ’ re not using it in such vast quantities every day by chance . It ’ s lightweight , strong and durable , there ’ s no other product like it .”
Despite the new name , the Plastic Furniture Company has been established for 30 years , its experienced team producing a fast-growing range of products from its headquarters in Gateshead .
Every item they sell comes with a 10-year guarantee and is completely maintenance free . Due to the nature of plastic manufacture , all products are easily treated

It ’ s a collective of plastics manufacturing companies striving for sustainable new solutions to meet the changing requirements of an ever-more demanding client base .
“ These are exciting times for us ,” adds Patrick . '' Education has been one of our core markets from the start and we are excited to move into more domestic products in the longer term . However , right now we ’ re focused on the leisure industry as pubs and parks reopen , helping them reclaim the outdoors .''
