WINNER

TASCOMP

It ’ s a company based on Billingham ’ s Belasis Hall Technology Park – but its expertise will be ensuring safe landings at airports around the world .
And the work carried out by software and systems specialist Tascomp has been described as “ game-changing ” by the firm ’ s MD .
When London City Airport needed an alarm management system for its new “ remote ” air traffic control tower , based 115km away in Swanwick , Tascomp ’ s industry-leading PAMS technology was entrusted with the job . That same technology will now be used for a remote digital tower in Romania . But Tascomp MD Ashley Tizard says the firm won ’ t stop there .
He said : “ The team did a fantastic job and have done for many years . The work we ’ re doing now in this kind of arena is game-changing for the industry .
“ We ’ re a very small plant but , at the same time , this is going to spread and spread – saving money , making airports more efficient , and that ’ s something that isn ’ t small fry at all , it ’ s a big thing .”
Since 1981 , the team at Tascomp has supplied control and monitoring systems from its Billingham base to businesses in the manufacturing and process industries all over the world . And as for what ’ s next for the company , Ashley said : “ It ’ s onwards and upwards for us .
“ We ’ re working in Romania shortly and spreading from where we have been already into other countries , so it ’ s all good .
“ We ’ re bowled over to win this award . You ’ re always uncertain because there are some fantastic companies out there , so we ’ re amazed .”
Art can build bridges in a community – so says creative duo Abby + Owen , whose imaginative “ bridges ” project is doing just that in Stockton ’ s Wellington Square shopping area .
Tasked with “ uplifting ” the precinct , as businesses switch there from the soon-to-bedemolished Castlegate Centre , they combined their talent and creativity with using the latest digital illustration software and equipment to produce stunning murals for three Wellington Square over-bridges .
Fittingly , each mural depicts one of the town ’ s iconic River Tees crossings – the Infinity , Millennium and Victoria bridges . And according to Abby + Owen , it was “ an incredible privilege ” to produce a permanent piece of artwork for the town they ’ re based in .

VIANET
Making the vending retail process smarter is the latest success for Stockton-based Vianet .
With the vending industry going through a period of change , Vianet ’ s SmartVend data insight platform , combined with its contactless payment and telemetry solutions , offers the industry ’ s only cloud-based Internet of Things end-to-end solution for the vending , coffee and unattended retail markets .
Built around an easy , intuitive dashboard , SmartVend gives vending operators the ability to view their machine data anytime , anywhere .
And it ’ s proving a big hit . For example , Compass Group – the world ’ s largest foodservice company – has identified a 45 per cent increase in average monthly sales as a result of installing contactless payment and being able to review its sales data remotely within the SmartVend portal .
