‘ EXCITING TIMES ’ AS COLLEGE UNVEILS £ 3.2M CLEAN ENERGY HUB PLANS

Redcar and Cleveland College says its Clean Energy Education Hub will help equip local people for quality jobs on their doorsteps .

The hub will specialise in clean energy and renewable industry training for both domestic and industrial markets .
Delivering training to school leavers , apprentices and adult learners , it will offer higher education and commercial and professional courses and will also respond to business needs through bespoke employerled programmes .
It will be funded primarily by a £ 2.41m capital injection from the Town Deal Fund , along with additional investment from the Education Training Collective .
Further financial support from the Skills Development Fund will provide a catalyst for the centre to progress its credentials and expertise , supporting the green revolution across the Tees Valley .
Described by the minister for levelling up Neil O ’ Brien as playing a “ crucial role supporting the Tees Valley ’ s wider green economy ”, the facility is on track for spades in the ground by early May .
The hub has been further boosted by a donation from BP . It will support the development of the hub and community engagement to raise awareness of opportunities within the clean energy sector among local schoolchildren .
Worth a total investment of almost £ 3.2m , the Clean Energy Education Hub will deliver training for careers in the clean and renewable energy industry .
Working in collaboration with Redcar and Cleveland Council and industry-leading employers such as RWE Sofia Windfarms and Northern Gas Networks , the college is ensuring the facility is built to meet real industry skill demands .
Redcar mum launches new product to help parents of twins
A savvy Redcar mum has come up with a first-of-a-kind product after her own struggles to bathe her twin babies .
Mum-of-three Laura McGlade , CEO and founder of Bumblebeez , has created what ’ s thought to be the first-ever twin bath .
The Redcar mum says she found herself in a dangerous situation when attempting to bathe the newborn twins .
The bath has been designed to fit into any tub and support two infants up to six months old , who can sit side by side in the water unaided but still able to touch each other – which is vital to avoid separation anxiety .
Green solutions will save money and energy
Decarbonisation work on seven Redcar and Cleveland Council buildings has been completed , taking the local authority closer to its aim of being a carbon-neutral organisation by 2030 .
The project has seen solar panels , airsource heat pumps , or both , installed on council buildings in Normanby , Redcar , Dormanstown , Ormesby , Grangetown and Skelton .
As a result , more than 400,000KWh of energy will be saved each year , equating to 55 tons of CO2 . Savings of around £ 25- £ 30,000 per year and an annual electricity reduction of 40 per cent have been predicted .
The programme was funded by a £ 426,000 Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme grant .
TRAINEE SCAFFOLDERS GIVEN CAREER BOOST
NETA Training has launched a new satellite centre to help meet increasing demand for scaffolding training .
The facility , in South Bank , will help trainee scaffolders starting out in their careers , while freeing up capacity for industry professionals to upskill and refresh their training .
Offering the full suite of scaffolding courses and apprenticeship training at NETA ’ s Stockton site , accredited by CISRS , the new satellite centre will increase training capacity by up to 58 scaffolders and 20 apprentices this year .
Situated at the Material Processing Institute on Eston Road , the 380-sq m facility will offer workshop space and classrooms .

A Saltburn-based holiday lettings firm has beaten its global rivals to win an award for its management services .
Host & Stay won the prize for best leisure property management company at the Short Term Rentalz Shortyz awards . It was one of only two UK-based companies in the category .
The property management firm , which was set up by Dale Smith in 2018 , has enjoyed rapid growth and now has more than 600 holiday properties on its books . The category judges were looking for entrants that could demonstrate their growth , as well as proactive and effective marketing , staff development and tangible benefits to clients .
