high-flying Cleveland Police officer and star of TV will be the speaker at the fifth annual Tees Businesswomen Awards .
Lisa Theaker , assistant chief constable for Cleveland Police , is also the chief hunter on Channel 4 hit Celebrity Hunted .
Describing herself as a “ proud Teessider ”, Redcar-born Lisa donated her fee for the TV show to the Tees Business-backed Power of Women campaign , dedicated to raising the aspirations and ambitions of Teesside girls and young women .
She was inspired to make the donation after recalling a short meeting with the campaign ’ s founder , the late Professor Jane Turner OBE .
“ If this money can help in a small way – even helping one kid believe in themselves – then I know I have done the right thing ,” said Lisa .

“ Our area is going to see a population boom in the 16-19 age category in the coming years ,” said Mr Preston .
“ The Tees Valley area will soon have an extra 5,000 young people in that bracket and it ’ s clear our area will need a new college .

IT ’ S YOUR TIME TO SHINE
The entries are now open for the 2022 Tees Businesswomen Awards , being held on September 27 at Hardwick Hall Hotel .
And with the deadline fast approaching , July 22 , I ’ d urge anyone to enter themselves , or nominate someone – or a business – you feel worthy to be considered for any of the 11 categories .
The Tees Businesswomen Awards do lots of things but for me , one of the most important is that they showcase women in our region who are incredibly driven , highly educated , skilled and experienced – and doing it their way .
They are the perfect role models for our young girls and women who , when they ask what an entrepreneur looks like , what a CEO looks like , what a chemical engineer looks like , they see us .
I was once one of just five girls studying as an apprentice engineer alongside 600 boys . When you ’ re the only , or the first , one , it ’ s really difficult .
You have to believe in yourself and in what you ’ re doing to follow it through .
But thanks to pioneering women who are showcased by the Tees Businesswomen Awards , I hope that the next generation of girls and young women will have it a little easier .
If you ’ re writing a nomination for someone else – and people have done it for me – I can ’ t stress enough how amazing it is when you realise that someone has taken the time to do that for you . It really means a lot .
If you ’ re entering yourself or your business , then it ’ s a great way of assessing everything you ’ ve done over the last year – and the awards really can bring in a lot of work .
Simply by being shortlisted in the awards , you can gain clients – so what do you have to lose ?
