arlington is riding on the crest of a wave after the announcement a year ago that the Treasury was relocating to the town as part of the levelling up agenda .
Ian Williams , chief executive of Darlington Borough Council , is keen to keep the momentum going , with seven government departments now planning to relocate between 1,300 and 1,700 staff to a “ fantastic new campus .”
“ The announcement last March that the Treasury will relocate to Darlington has been a fantastic boost for the town ,” says Ian .
“ The great majority of the jobs across seven government departments are going to new recruits , so there is a real opportunity for people in the North-East to enter a fantastic career .”
Since the announcement a year ago , a wave of new developments has been approved across Darlington .
