David Dixon of Tees Tech Awards headline sponsor DigitalCity believes the record-breaking 114 entries could be doubled without impacting on the quality of entries and nominations .
The second annual Tees Tech Awards will give some of the digital sector ’ s big names and hidden gems an opportunity to shine .
But some companies remain under the radar and should be encouraged to raise their profiles by entering next year , says David . DigitalCity , which , along with Middlesbrough Digital , has helped organisers Tees Business create a hotly anticipated event .
“ I am extremely lucky to see the amazing digital and tech businesses , and the equally amazing talent that they employ , every day ,” said David .
“ With this context in mind , I ’ m not surprised at the level of interest and the quality of the applications that have been received . It ’ s great that people will get to see more and more of our hidden gems .”
This year ’ s entries and nominations are a big rise on last year ’ s inaugural event , which itself attracted a healthy 85 .
“ The number of entries this year is some feat , but I really do believe we could at least double that and still maintain the quality ,” said David .
“ There are more hidden gems out there and this really does make us more determined to build upon the success of Tees Tech Awards , year after year .”
David believes a successful Tees Tech Awards is vital for the sector ’ s growth in the Tees region .
“ It ’ s so important for ecosystem development and sector growth that we have a successful awards ceremony ,” said David .
“ It will provide the limelight that will attract inward investment , will tempt those who are leaving the area to stay and , perhaps most crucially , it will attract more interest from private and public investors .
“ Funding and investment play such a crucial role in this sector in particular and the more we can attract , the better it is all round – exporting , quality and number of jobs , more money spent locally , more inward investment .” David Dixon of headline sponsor DigitalCity ( right ) with Tees Business executive editor Dave Allan .
How Tees businesses are backing second awards event
second Tees Tech Awards will be held in Hardwick Hall ’ s Coleman Suite on a new date of Tuesday August 10 organised by Tees Business in association with Middlesbrough Digital and DigitalCity .
Here are more details about the companies and organisations supporting the 2021 event through sponsorship .
Punch Robson Solicitors
The sponsor of the Business Leader category says it ’ s vital that companies such as theirs continue to back the growing local digital sector .
Stockton-based Punch Robson Solicitors , which also sponsored the Business Leader award at last year ’ s inaugural event , sees the Tees Tech Awards as the perfect showcase for a burgeoning sector and is excited by the continuing growth and expansion of so many of our region ’ s tech companies .
“ As a founding sponsor of the Tees Tech Awards , it ’ s only right that we champion and recognise the talent of those clients we serve and support ,” said Punch Robson managing partner Elaine McLaine-Wood .
“ You can ’ t fail to be excited for the future . It ’ s our job to continue to show our support with events such as these awards .” Punch Robson Solicitors managing partner Elaine McLaine-Wood ( left ) with Tees Business events manager Julie Burniston .
Azets
One of the companies backing this year ’ s event has said the Tees Tech Awards are the perfect way to support the local digital community and a crucial platform to encourage the growth of the tech sector as a whole .
Azets , the international accounts and business advisory service , sponsors the Digital Transformation category for the second year .
“ Teesside as a whole , and especially the tech sector , tend to hide their lights under a bushel and we see the awards as a great way to shine a light on the wealth of talent here ,” said Andrew Rowe .
“ We sponsored the Digital Transformation award last year , so we do feel a special bond with the awards .” Andrew Rowe , partner at Azets ’ Wynyard-based Teesside branch ( left ), with Tees Business executive editor Martin Walker .
Cornerstone Business Solutions
Cornerstone Business Solutions MD Chris Petty believes the Tees Tech Awards are a perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on a sector experiencing a boom , but which too often goes under the radar .
This is the second successive year the Stockton-based IT specialist has sponsored the Tees Tech Ambassador category and Chris has been overwhelmed by the strength of the entries this time round .
“ Having been involved in the tech sector on Teesside for many years now , we have come to know the candidates well and each and every one of them would make a fantastic ambassador ,” said Chris .
“ Seeing the massive growth that ’ s happening now is fantastic . The Tees region as a whole is booming and it ’ s a great time to live and work here , but for us to see the tech sector grow this way is particularly rewarding .” Cornerstone Business Solutions directors Chris Petty ( right ) and Chris Bibby ( left ) with Tees Business sales manager Chris Garbutt .
