TEES COMPONENTS BEGINS £ 500K SITE EXPANSION

Tees Components is expanding its headquarters to enhance the facilities for its growing workforce with a £ 500,000 refurbishment .

Following a programme of equipment and technology investments to support the delivery of specialist heavy machining contracts , the company has focused the next stage of its developments on providing new wellbeing facilities for its staff .
It has secured planning permission from Redcar and Cleveland Council to build a new 400-sq m extension , which will contain washrooms , canteen , welfare facilities and office space .
Designed by Stokesley-based SPA Architects , the extension features oneway routes and high levels of ventilation to enable it to remain in safe use in the event of events such as Covid-19 .
Tees Components is also taking advantage of its location in the North
Skelton countryside to build a pathway through the fields behind its site to provide a route where staff can enjoy a walk in relaxing surroundings , away from the workshop environment .
Further developments are taking place as the company continues to evolve its operations to meet a growing order book , which include recruitment for more engineering-based roles .
In the last year it has continued to supply to longstanding clients in power generation , defence and rail and implementing stringent health and hygiene measures to remain operational , which has also led to securing new work from sectors including renewable energy , aerospace and robotics .
This has led to the need for additional CNC operators and machine shop staff with plans to take on its next intake of apprentices in the autumn .
£ 5.8m funding confirmed to help transform Loftus High Street
£ 5.8m of funding to help implement ambitious plans to transform Loftus High Street has been approved as part of the government ’ s flagship Future High Streets Fund .
Redcar and Cleveland Council submitted a bid for £ 8.49m and has been successful in securing £ 5.8m which , when added to the £ 3m from the Tees Valley Combined Authority and £ 575,000 from the council , provides investment of £ 9.375m for the town .
Work on the wider Loftus masterplan is already under way , with a new car park due for completion this month and other work due to start over the summer .
£ 2m Wilton Centre investment revealed
REDCAR HOTEL PLANS UNVEILED
Plans for a new 42-bedroom Redcar hotel have gone out for public consultation .
The £ 6.5m development has been proposed for the Coatham area , close to the seafront , subject to planning approval .
North-East chain the Inn Collection Group will develop the new building and family restaurant if permission is granted .
Redcar and Cleveland Council has put the proposals out for public consultation .
The hotel is forecast to create 50 full-time jobs , with 60 jobs during the construction stage .
The group also owns the Kings Head in Newton-under-Roseberry and the Stables in Whitby .
FACELIFT FOR AWARD- WINNING MUSEUM
An award-winning exhibition celebrating the region ’ s industrial heritage has been made more interactive as a museum opens its doors to the public once again .
Steel Stories , an interactive exhibition at Kirkleatham Museum , near Redcar , celebrates the area ’ s iron and steel industries . The exhibition has won a national award and attracted tens of thousands of visitors before Covid closed the museum .
Improvements include five new sculptures , more audio commentary , interactive audio commentary , photographs and video .
Details have been revealed of a major investment programme at Wilton Centre .
Nearly £ 2m is being spent on a new reception , entrance area and main restaurant at the 75- acre site near Redcar . There will also be another new restaurant and collaboration space near the Technical Development Area .
Wilton Centre hosts a number of global multinational scientific companies .
Accommodation manager Claire Morton said : “ The work is due to be finished in early summer and the timing is ideal as the remainder of our tenants who have been working from home come back to the office .”
