The Best Newcomer award was accepted with the exuberance for which Wander Films creative director Chloë Clover has become known .
“ I ’ m stoked , it ’ s epic !” she breathed . “ I ’ m not usually lost for words , but wow , I ’ m blown away to have won this award .”
Chloë has really pushed the Wander brand and herself personally this year . She leads the team , client relationships and business development and is also the face of the company , heading the marketing department , creating vlogs to help inspire other businesses to see ways they can “ beat the scroll ” and speaking at numerous events .
Thanks to her determination , Wander has employed 10 people ( so far ), more than tripled in size and more than doubled its projected turnover , despite Covid-19 .
The Best Newcomer gong was an addition to Wander ’ s Business of the Year award , and Chloë ’ s Rising Star trophy which she bagged at the 2020 Tees Tech Awards .
“ You never expect to win and you never get used to it when you do ,” she said .
“ This award just means so much , not just because the other two finalists are so incredible , but because the whole ethos around the Tees Businesswomen Awards themselves is just so unique and special .”

Laura Hepburn ( Greenology ( Teesside ))
Laura is the lone female director and sole shareholder of Greenology , developing groundbreaking and world-leading technology to reprocess previously unrecyclable material . She ’ s also sole director of several businesses born from Covid pivots . A single mum-of-three , Laura survived her business being destroyed by floods and an arson attack in early 2020 , managing to hold the team together despite this and Covid . Laura has self-belief , a passion for the region and its people . Some personal highlights were gaining a masters in innovation from Oxford University and being added to the Northern Power Woman 2020 Future List .
Tracey Jukes ( Tracey Jukes Beauty Training )
Tracey is the owner , principal , manager and lead teacher at Tracey Jukes Beauty Training . Starting in her chosen field at 16 , Tracey climbed the ladder of her industry via education and working on the shop floor . She attended Teesside University to complete teaching qualifications , becoming a full-time teacher of beauty therapy at Hartlepool College before opening her own accredited private training business covering the North- East and her own Hartlepool-based academy . Tracey ’ s success is all the more remarkable given that she suffers from dyscalculia , a condition that affects the ability to acquire arithmetical skills and leads to problems learning number facts and procedures .
