Luke Pennington and Kristee Brown , Jacksons Law Jacksons Law Firm ’ s new-build team continues to expand with the recruitment of two property experts as the housing marketing remains buoyant .
Partner Jonathan Wall , who heads up the Stockton-based law firm ’ s new build and residential conveyancing team , joined Jacksons in 2018 when there were a total of seven members of staff working in those teams .
Property solicitor Luke Pennington and conveyancing executive Kristee Brown have now boosted that number to 18 , while Jacksons has plans to expand its Newcastle office .
Luke , from Acklam , Middlesbrough , studied for his degree at Teesside University and completed the legal practice course at Northumbria University . He has a wide range of experience , including new-build purchases , part exchange transactions and remortgage transactions .
Kristee , from Guisborough , is currently undertaking a CILEX diploma . She has extensive experience in advising clients on all aspect of the buying and selling process from start to finish .
Emma Whitenstall , Festival of Thrift The company behind the Festival of Thrift event has appointed an executive director to help expand its role and impact as a year-round champion of sustainable living .
Emma Whitenstall has joined the Festival of Thrift Community Interest Company to step up its campaigning beyond the award-winning large-scale annual weekend event at Kirkleatham near Redcar and to actively increase partnerships with organisations looking to support more sustainable ways of living .
Following the success of the online versions of Festival of Thrift ’ s weekend event in September 2020 and its recent Fix-it Fortnight campaign , Emma will also focus on using digital technology to enable the company to evolve further into a yearround operation .
Having spent the past decade working in the tech sector , building creative digital communities through event production and delivery of business support , Emma also worked with Festival of Thrift ’ s team to take the event online last year .
The annual event is scheduled to take place at Kirkleatham , Redcar , on Saturday September 25 and Sunday September 26 .
Wan Djawad , Durham Lifting Middlesbrough-based Durham Lifting has appointed Wan Djawad as technical director .
With over 13 years of experience within the lifting equipment industry , Wan has been involved in design , fabrication , installation , commissioning and testing for some of the most well-known names in lifting .
Experienced in ensuring safe design and operation of various types of lifting and material handling equipment for both onshore and marine applications , Wan has worked extensively in Asia and Europe .
Wan aims to take his experience in working across various industries and multi-disciplined teams around the world to further develop the engineering capabilities at Durham Lifting and build on its success over the past 25 years .
Amy Caldwell and Michael Hastings , Teesside International Airport fire crew Teesside International Airport ’ s on-site fire service has increased its ranks by welcoming two recruits after it also recently secured an extra fire engine .
Amy Caldwell , 28 , and Michael Hastings , 32 , have joined the team , which provides immediate response to any on-site incidents .
They were brought on board , along with
the fourth engine that can carry 10,000 litres of water , as part of the airport ’ s work to get ready for the increased number of domestic services with Loganair and holiday breaks with Ryanair later this year .
Michael previously worked with Darlington and County Durham Fire Service . Amy is a retained firefighter with Consett Community Fire Service .
The pair take the number of firefighters to 21 over three watches , overseen by Dave Rowland , who has worked at the airport for 28 years .
One of the recruits replaces Sandy Gray , who is retiring next month after 25 years , and later this year there will be another recruitment drive to replace Stuart Elliott , who has worked at the airport for more than 30 years .
Chris McDonald , Transforming Foundation Industries Network The CEO of Teesside-based Materials Processing Institute has been appointed chair of an independent advisory body to a new foundation industries network .
The Transforming Foundation Industries ( TFI ) Network + was recently awarded £ 2m by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council to improve the sustainability of the metals , glass , ceramics , paper , cement , and bulk chemicals sectors .
Its goal is to develop a strategic approach to address common challenges and accelerate the development and adoption of new technologies and business models .
Network + will bring together expertise and best practice in the fields of materials , engineering , bulk chemicals , manufacturing , physical sciences , informatics , economics , circular economy and the arts and humanities .
