TeesAMP welcomes latest tech-based businesses

ENGINEERING SPECIALIST OPENS NEW NORTH-EAST HQ

Engineering specialist Addison Project

has unveiled its new North-East headquarters at Middlesbrough ’ s Riverside Park .
And the town ’ s mayor Andy Preston dropped by to welcome the latest business to give Middlesbrough its seal of approval .
Addison Project ’ s expansion to Teesside builds on over two decades as an engineering service provider in Lancashire and Cheshire .
As one of the UK ’ s leading independent industrial design and project management companies , Addison takes on projects ranging from £ 5,000 to £ 50m .
The company works closely with the local chemical sector and other related businesses and is also looking to expand its Teesside presence by recruiting locally for future roles .
Addison ’ s acquisition of the Riverside Park office will see the company occupy
2,000 out of 5,500sq ft , with the remainder let to local businesses .
The Middlesbrough office will be home to up to 20 staff , including engineers and skilled tradespeople , with plans in the pipeline to take on trainees and apprentices .
Kevin Simmonds , Addison Project ’ s group sales and business development manager , said : “ Addison have been involved on Teesside for some time , so it was a logical next step to establish a firm base here .
“ It will enable us to move some of our local engineers out of their temporary accommodation on client sites , and we ’ re also hoping to create local job opportunities and attract the right individuals to join us on our exciting journey .
“ We ’ re looking forward to being able to cement our presence in the region and grow alongside the exciting developments taking place across Teesside .”
The landmark £ 55m TeesAMP development in Middlesbrough has welcomed its latest occupants .
Durata has taken 3,000 sq ft of space at the advanced manufacturing park , adjacent to the Riverside Park industrial development on the banks of the River Tees .
The company , which employs 20 people , specialises in critical power infrastructure for data-led industries such as banks , hospitals and government sites .
TeesAMP was developed by Middlesbrough-based Chaloner Group , in partnership with Middlesbrough Council and Tees Valley Combined Authority ( TVCA ), to attract innovative companies to the area , resulting in more job opportunities created for the Tees Valley .

Logistic firm imports mine tunnel segments

Local freight logistics specialists have been called in to import 1km of tunnel segments for Anglo American ’ s Woodsmith project .
The team at AV Dawson ’ s Port of Middlesbrough worked with global logistics experts FH Bertling on this complex logistics challenge .
The Woodsmith Project , which was recently taken over by Anglo American , has been manufacturing tunnel segments in a purpose-built plant at Wilton International in Redcar to build the 35km tunnel that will carry the mineral product from the mine to the River Tees for export .
Rapid construction meant segments have been required faster than they could be produced at Wilton , so additional supply has been imported .
