TEESPORT INVESTS £ 1.35M IN PILOT VESSEL PD Ports , owner of Teesport and legal guardians of the River Tees , has welcomed a new £ 1.35m pilot vessel , Stainsby , to its fleet .
Affectionately named Stainsby after one of the original four villages that became Middlesbrough , the vessel will facilitate the safe transportation of pilots to and from vessels as they enter the river .
The state-of-the-art Stainsby will replace the Coatham pilot vessel , which has a new home at the Port of Tyne after racking up 800,000 miles in 20 years .

Construction on Boho 8 started earlier this year with the project on target for completion early in 2021 .
The £ 2.3m project – backed by Local Growth Fund funding from the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority – is the latest element of the hugely successful Boho quarter and is the first development within Middlesbrough ’ s Digital City project .

£ 21.4m student residence block has opened its doors in time for the new academic year , despite the challenges caused by coronavirus .
The Cornell Quarter development , part of the university ’ s ambitious and ongoing campus masterplan , has welcomed its first occupants .
Wates Construction started work on Cornell Quarter in April 2019 and was able to meet the planned timescale amid additional pressures caused by the impact of Covid-19 . well as attracting new digital and creative businesses to the area .
The four bespoke-designed , cantilevered buildings range from 1,000 to 3,000 sq ft and will be completed by main contractor M-AR Off Site during the winter .
The development to the rear of Boho One will be complemented by modern contemporary external communal space with a high street feel .
Foundations are now in place at the Sussex Street site to accommodate the development ’ s state-of-the-art modular buildings and steel ‘ V ’ columns .
Four individual office blocks have been erected consisting of 18 off-site constructed modules installed over five days , with roof works nearing completion .
Student wellbeing is focus of luxury new £ 21.4m development
From the inception of the development , student health and wellbeing has been at the heart of the design , with all residents having access to a gym , laundry room , lounge , office space and movie room .
NEW TRANSPORT CENTRE SET FOR TEES REGION Plans for the Tees region to become the hydrogen capital of the UK have taken a step forward .
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen has secured an agreement to bring the UK ’ s first Hydrogen Transport Centre to the region .
The centre , the first of its kind in the UK , will result in the research , development and testing of new hydrogen technologies , including for cars , buses , trains , lorries , boats and planes , taking place in Teesside , where more than half of the UK ’ s hydrogen is already produced .
TRAVEL AGENT SIGNS 10-YEAR AIRPORT DEAL A travel agent has signed a deal that will see its shop remain at Teesside International Airport for the next decade .
Fairs-Lloyds Travel , a family run business established in 1979 , has been a longstanding presence at the airport and originally moved into its store inside the terminal in 2008 .
In that time , it has helped tens of thousands of passengers fly from Teesside to destinations such as Majorca , Canada , New Zealand and South Africa while supporting many of the airport ’ s airline partners .
E-SCOOTER FIRM SECURES SIX- FIGURE INVESTMENT E-Scooter firm Ginger has secured a £ 500,000 investment from NPIF – FW Capital Debt Finance to expand its operations across the Tees Valley .
Ginger launched the first e-scooter rental trials in the UK within Tees Valley in July after months of successfully campaigning alongside mayor Ben Houchen .
Since the launch , the trial has been rolled out in Hartlepool , Middlesbrough and Redcar , while Stockton and Darlington will follow .
To date , journeys totalling around 63,000 miles have been made using the eco-friendly scooters .
