leading commercial IT firm is backing the Tees Businesswomen Awards for a third successive year – and encouraging others to sponsor and enter this year ’ s virtual event .
“ There ’ s no question of not having the awards . We must crack on , keep the momentum going and celebrate the amazing businesswomen in our region .”
These were the words of encouragement from Cornerstone Business Solutions ’ managing director Chris Petty when asked about the delayed Tees Businesswomen Awards 2020 , being held virtually on January 14 .
Stockton-based Cornerstone has been a firm supporter of the awards since their inception in 2018 , sponsoring the Company of the Year category for the first two years and now set to support the award that will see Sharon Lane ’ s successor crowned as the overall Tees Businesswoman of the Year .
This year , due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions surrounding social gatherings , the awards may be virtual , but they are no less important .
“ We ’ re fully on board with the awards being virtual and excited to be sponsoring the Businesswoman of the Year category this time ,” continues Chris .
“ Yes , it will be different , and I won ’ t deny we will all miss being together under one roof and celebrating in person , but that time will come .
“ What ’ s important now is that we continue to shout about the amazing achievements of the Tees Valley ’ s businesswomen .”
In the Businesswoman of the Year category , Cornerstone and a panel of fellow sponsors will be looking for a standout figure .
“ Because of the pandemic , I think it ’ s important to honour someone who has kept her business moving forward despite the obstacles , who has encouraged growth and created employment ," says Chris .
“ Having met and worked alongside many of the region ’ s businesswomen and knowing how fabulous they are , I can see this being a close fight .
“ You only need to look at the success of the Tech Awards , which were really entertaining and great for all those involved , to know that Resolution can provide an impressive digital event .”

That ’ s the view of Kimberley Workman , associate director at Stockton-based project and management consultancy Faithful + Gould .
“ At Faithful + Gould , we are committed to not only inspiring the next generation to be whatever they want to be , but also encouraging those already within their careers to thrive and shape a flourishing future in the Tees Valley ,” says Kimberley , whose company is sponsoring the Lifelong Inspiration category in the 2020 Tees Businesswomen Awards .
“ The awards are a positive platform to celebrate , inspire and encourage . People need to see and hear the journeys of women succeeding , whether that ’ s through outstanding leadership , challenging systems or simply supporting others .
“ Recognition is a powerful yet often overlooked way of celebrating people and letting them know they are making a positive difference . Entering yourself or nominating others for these awards is a great way to bestow confidence , cultivate leadership , nurture talent and inspire our incredible community .”
