We share a virtual cuppa and talk business with UKSE’s Sarah Thorpe 50 SAFE HANDS How Active is keeping clients happy during the pandemic Welcome back to Tees Business – and thanks all of you who have supported this edition. Take a bow! I’d also like to pay tribute to Dave and Martin – the brains behind Tees Business - who’ve worked their socks off over recent weeks. I’ve been hugely impressed by their weekly Talking Business and Business Leaders Q&As on social media. They have continued to support and promote Teesside’s business community through the most challenging of times. Through my working life, the economic crises have often been Teesside-only - from Smith’s Dock, ICI and British Steel through to SSI. And we’ve always bounced back - with scars but reinvented. This is global. I’m confident that Teesside can bounce back faster, stronger and more confidently than anywhere else. We have great, inspiring leaders - as shown in the fantastic Most Inspiring list that features in this issue of Tees Business, containing extraordinary homegrown talent and brilliant adopted Teessiders such as Frans Calje and Mike Racz, who both feature in this year’s top 10. We also have world class businesses - we’re rightly proud of our engineering, manufacturing and chemical expertise and long may they see Teesside as their natural home. In addition, we have the most exciting tech cluster containing our brightest minds - and this issue reveals the shortlists for the long-awaited inaugural Tees Tech Awards. This Tees Business event - in August at our airport - will be, I’m sure, the first actual and virtual awards ceremony anywhere since March - and again shows that Teesside is back and open for business. Let’s keep supporting each other, let’s keep talking about our successes - and keep telling Dave, Martin and their sales manager Chris Garbutt obviously. Enjoy the magazine!
