Fury
It was daybreak when her nose caught the faint smell of buckwheat . Only now did she finally realise just how hungry she was , having been running on an empty belly from the moment she had begun her hunt no less than two days ago . Her stomach warbled within her . Its low rumble would have made a dragon turn tail . She felt as if her insides would collapse in on themselves at any moment . She headed towards the source of the smell .
A military field kitchen stood near some lonely trees . A cook tended to its contents . Soldiers sat around on the ground , eating chatting , taking care of their gear . Horses were tied to the trees , some brown some black . She considered what she would do . She could steal herself some food . She could fight it out openly . Against ten to fifteen soldiers though , maybe not . She could just ask politely . Wrapping herself up in her cloak to give herself more courage , she approached the cook .
“ Sir ,” she said , “ would you have anything to spare ?” The cook turned around , his jolly expression fading as he eyed her . His little beady eyes narrowed . “ Not for the likes of you .”
She had had enough . It all ends here . If the world would judge her based on her looks , she might as well live up to them . Her anger augmented by her terrible hunger , she took a solid , earth-munching step towards the cook and sent his fat form sprawling onto the ground with one massive punch . Some soldier who was nearby charged at her . She sidestepped him , leaving him to crash into the metal cauldron of the field kitchen . Hearing a sword being drawn behind her , she turned and ducked . The swordsman staggered , his momentum putting him off balance . That was all she needed to throw her knuckle into his chin . She watched him fall , eyes closing . She looked up , expecting to find a mob of soldiers closing in on her with drawn weapons . Instead , she saw a single man on a white mare .
Tall , well built , with short blonde hair , he sat in his saddle . His skin was slightly tanned and looked almost bright against his white shirt . He watched the fight unfold from under his thick eyebrows . There was no telling his age . His face
