Not content to sit on their laurels during lockdown, the Smart Outdoor Group management pair worked closely with manufacturers in the Far East to produce the Smart Sanitiser. The contactless unit has a built-in digital screen which can be updated in real-time with bespoke branding and has enabled businesses to reopen safely over the last two months. Commercial director Mark Clancey said: “There is no doubt that sanitisers are here to stay for some time and we felt this was a unique opportunity to reach customers.” The new venture for Smart Outdoor comes as the company announced significant additions to their team, which is based at Rainton Bridge Business Park, near Houghton-le-Spring. A one-time Scottish businesswoman of the year has joined the expanding team at Smart Outdoor Group after a record year for the Wearside digital company. Also joining Gillian will be new finance manager Nina Evans, who has an unparalleled understanding of the out-ofhome market and will work strategically to enhance profitability and ensure internal finance and operational efficiency. The highly-experienced Gemma Hoy joins as finance and sales coordinator to support sales as the company increases their footprint across the UK. And finally, Sean Leyland joins the team as account director to develop media sales, bringing 15 years of media sales experience and knowledge of the North-East media landscape. Mark Clancey said: “We are one of the few companies expanding in the current climate and are delighted to welcome all four new members to the Smart Outdoor Group. “It coincides with the launch of our latest digital site located on the iconic Tyne Bridge in Newcastle.
