In 2021 the departure of Jacob is a major setback for the group and many are asking questions about the continuity of the group , we can say that Kassav is in a zone of turbulence . How do you live with this departure of Jacob ? Jacob ' s departure was of immense violence . Jacob was the pillar of the group . It was always said that Kassav ' has no leader but Jacob was the boss . The chief . He was the one who prepared everything . He had a kidney transplant . His immunodepression weakened him in the face of Covid and then this happened ... Do you plan to continue without Jacob , can you solemnly reassure your fans around the world today that Kassav will continue ?
For the moment we are thinking , you must also know that Jean Philippe has had a stroke , he is recovering from his stroke ... he is ready to sing again but he has had a stroke ... we should not go on tour again as before and there is some kind of accident . We have to do a concert next year which will be a tribute to Jacob , it ' s mandatory we couldn ' t pay tribute to him because of the pandemic . We owe him this tribute , and this tribute we are preparing it and this tribute , will not be only be in our homelands , Martinique , and Guadeloupe , but also in France and in all the countries which will ask to have it . I think we will probably play in Africa too . For the rest I don ' t know , apart from some of our health problems we spent 3 years o , during the pandemic , it ' s 3 more years for each of us , Kassav ' will go back on stage for sure we will continue to sing , we will the soul of Kassav ’ alive , now to say it ' s Kassav … to be continued … we ' ll find a formula … a lot of people want it . In any case , we will continue to make music with the soul of Kassav '
In 2019 I had the privilege of interviewing Jacob , while you were preparing for the big concert at the Arena in Paris in May 2019 . A memorable moment and I was preparing to go see you at Madison Square Garden in New York , at the summer 2020 , but the pandemic decided otherwise . Apart from the loss of Jacob Desvarieux the period of the pandemic how did you take it ? with philosophy as a test for humanity , take a break to question yourself ?
