"From My Heart"
James has been recognized internationally for his ability to grace the stage and play with such an anointed craft using his smooth picking. He grew up in the Church of God in Christ playing guitar at his dad's church. As a child, their family group called The Grace Gospel Singers performed on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show.
As a senior in high school, James was awarded the national Music Fest Jazz Award and competed in the International Jazz Festival in Jamaica. In 1994, he performed all over the State of Michigan with a contemporary jazz band.
In the last seven years, Deitrick Haddon and R&B music artist such as Stephanie Mills and Angie Stone all have experienced James on Lead Guitar. He accompanied Ms. Mills on acoustic guitar on her single "Yesterday" a tribute to Michael Jackson. In 2005 Mr. Owens recorded live with the Georgia Mass Choir and the Kentucky First Jurisdictional Mass Choir in 2008.
In 2010, James released his first Gospel solo album titled "From My Heart" which is currently available on cdbaby.com, amazon and iTunes. He can also be seen playing his featured solo with Deitrick Haddon on the 2010 Stellar Awards and in the movie titled "Blesssed & Cursed".
