You are created for greatness
Challenges , hardships , struggles , circumstances and surroundings are some of the things we cannot avoid , and to many of us , they are the main contributors to our limitations in life . Many of us live the way we live , respond to difficulties the way we do , see ourselves as we do , react the way we react , act the way we act and think the way we think because of our experiences in life . Even though they may vary from one person to another , I strongly believe that they contribute largely to the way we respond to life and the way we look , see and think of ourselves , and one of those ways is the tendency to look down on ourselves .
History has a clear and consistent record of men and women who were so beaten down by the things they went through in their lives to an extent that they developed low self esteem , trashed themselves and believed that they could never amount to anything . Others felt inadequate , incapable and unable to go far or even accomplish anything significant in their lives , yet unknown to them , they carried solutions for nations and generations . This is not something new to many of us . I believe that we all , at some point in our lives , and even now for some of us , have found ourselves in this exact position and dilemma and as a result , many have settled for less and have lost direction for their lives . They have slipped into their comfort zones and have decided to go with the flow of life ; taking whatever comes their way , accommodating and allowing it to become a part of them without thinking twice . It doesn ’ t bother them that the kind of life they are living is full of limitations and emptiness . They live and walk the face of the earth living their lives below par , yet before the eyes of God , they carry such greatness within them that if they realised who they were created to become , lives would change and destinies would shift for God ’ s glory .
One of the most profound truths we all need to grasp is that God did not create a junk . He never created anyone empty . He did not create anyone to live a limited life . Every human being , no matter who they are ; their status or level in life , tribe , nationality or colour , is created for greatness . Each one of us is able to make an impact in other people ’ s lives as well as to influence the world around them for God ’ s glory . Even if you feel or even believe that you are limited , you have the power and the capability to live beyond your limitations . You are not created to scratch the surface like a chicken , but to soar on high like an eagle and to reach higher heights . You are not created to merely exist , but to be a mover and a shaker in your area of calling .
We should never use our past failures to judge ourselves ; neither should we gauge our abilities and capabilities based on what we have been able to accomplish or how far we have reached . There are many who do not know life beyond their achievements , success , struggles and failures . Others have allowed their surroundings , environments , circumstances , other people ’ s opinions and societal norms to dictate how far they can go and how much they can achieve in life . Yet the will of God for them is to get deeper and to reach higher heights . The issue that I want to address here is not how much God has for us , but why it seems hard and even unattainable for most of us . What really stands on our way ? What holds us back ? What stands between us and our calling to greatness ? All these questions may seem rhetorical , but believe me , they ’ ve got answers . For us to achieve all we are called to do and live beyond our limitations , we must retrace our steps and go back to our source .
We cannot truly know who we are until we invite God to take over our lives and let Him define us as He sees us . It ’ s no secret that the way you see and define yourself is not the same way God does . Look at Gideon for example , he was busy trying to save the little he could from the hands of the Midianites , worse still , secretly – literally hiding himself from them – yet he did not know that the power to crush them was within him . He feared the enemy not knowing that he was equipped to fight and defeat that same enemy ( Judges 6 ). How many times have we run away from difficult situations and challenges thinking that we are not capable of doing anything about them ?
Each and every one of us has a seed of greatness within us , but in order for us to come to such realization , we must give ourselves to God and let Him bring the best out of us . He did not create you to be a follower , but to be a leader ; He did not create you to become a failure but success in life . God knows each one of us better than we know ourselves . He knows what you are capable of doing and accomplishing , He knows exactly what you carry within you and He wills to make it known to you because it can change other people ’ s lives . Don ’ t disqualify yourself , instead let God have His way in your life and He will change it .
