times , just like David , what I am learning to do is to lean on God , the source of my strength . Yes , the only thing we need to do during such times is to lean on God ' s grace and strength .
I have also come to realize that there are paths that are God ordained . All of us have our own journey and God takes us through His own predetermined paths . This means that there are things and paths that He has purposed that you must go and pass through no matter what happens . And if we are discerning enough to know and understand the process of God in our lives , then the only thing we should realize that we need during such a process is the grace of God , nothing else . Look at Joseph , Jacob ' s favorite son for example ; the only mistake he did was to dream and the next thing that happened threw his life into a rollercoaster ; his brother ' s hatred , separation from his family , being thrown into a pit , sold as a slave , a set up by Potiphar ' s wife and then prison . Everything seemed to be working against him . Yet it was necessary for him to go through all this . He had every reason in the world to give up hope , but he didn ’ t . God does prepare fire for His people and He makes them go through it . His aim is to purify them as gold is purified and tested through fire . Joseph was promoted to a prime minister once God was finished with him , but he wasn ' t the same man .
Elijah killed 450 prophets of Baal and prayed until God released rain in Israel . He was one man who did a remarkable thing in Israel yet he found himself running away from Jezebel . During this time , he complained to God and wished he could die . David , on the other hand , was a great warrior who had never lost any battle , but at some point as the king , he found himself on the run and fleeing from his own son , Absalom . Jesus had done many great things in the world and made so many prayers that God answered , yet He Himself felt that the Cross was too much for Him and the only prayer He could make was for the cup to be taken away . At the cross He also cried out ; ‘ My God , My God , why have you forsaken me ?’
No matter how strong we think we are or how much we have accomplished , there are times things will always get out of hand .
The key to overcoming despair is not selfpity or feeling sorry for yourself ; its prayer . If you are not praying , someone has said , you are playing with your destiny . Prayer is the only way we are able to connect , commune and get closer to God . It joins our hearts with the heart of God . It ushers spiritual blessings into our natural , everyday lives and brings spiritual power to bear on our earthly circumstances . If things don ’ t go as we expect them to , that ’ s the time to accelerate our prayers and call on God for help . He will never fail to respond and He can never cast us away .
In conclusion , understand that every challenge is common to man and God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted above that which you are able to handle . There is always a way out and He will make a way of escape for the temptation . If you want the glory , you must be ready to face the affliction .
The Lord says , “ Small and weak as you are , Israel , don ’ t be afraid ; I will help you . I the holy God of Israel , am the one who saves you ~ Isaiah 41:14 GNT
