that robots will take
over an enormous
number
of
human
jobs: 2009’s self-published ‘The Lights in the
Tunnel: Automation,
A c c e l e r a t i n g
Technology and the
Economy of the Future’,
and 2015’s ‘Rise of the
Robots:
Technology
and the Threat of a
Jobless Future’. Ford is
a pioneer of the argument that automated
robots will, in coming
decades, make a percentage of the human
workforce
obsolete.
Ironically enough, he
says that it is in health16
care - despite the
examples above - that
will be most immune
to this new effect, stating that doctors, for
example, who need to
interact with hundreds
of different people with
different ailments - who
need individual diagnosis and perpetual
treatment - will still be
