the category of attractive, average and unattractive to each participant? Good question…).
Participants were asked
to judge the photos
along with the character traits they thought
that each individual in
the photos had. The
results showed that
overwhelmingly
the
more attractive individual was judged to
have the most desirable personality traits,
demonstrating that just
because someone is
good at A (being physically attractive) they
are good at B (warm),
C (friendly) and so on.
Essentially, first impressions count. When meeting someone we usually

assess them first physically, as we are able to
construct an impression
of if we like someone or
not before we even talk
to them. Interestingly,
once this first impression is made it is very
difficult to change it.
This is not just applicable to attractiveness, as
the halo effect can be
produced in the world
of business and media.
