The mechanism was in a wooden box and is approximately 340×180x90mm in size, having 30 bronze gears (although some others could have been lost). The mechanism’s remains were found as 82 separate fragments of which only seven contain any gears or significant inscriptions. So, an object that was made 13 centuries ahead of its time.
