CAMU offers“ complete coil experience”
For over 46 years, CAMU has been designing and manufacturing slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, press feeding systems and complete coilprocessing solutions for customers worldwide. From its headquarters in Bressanvido( Italy), the company has continuously invested in engineering expertise, innovation and customer-driven development, building an international reputation with more than 820 installed lines operating in 97 countries across five continents. It delivers what it calls“ The Complete Coil Experience” to its customers.
At EuroBLECH 2026 in Hanover( Germany) from 20-23 October 2026, CAMU will welcome visitors to two dedicated exhibition areas. In Hall 17( stand D46), the company will showcase its latest slitting and cut-to-length solutions, developed to meet the growing demands of modern steel service centres for precision, productivity and operational flexibility. In Hall 27( stand E172), the focus will be on CAMU’ s advanced press feeding
systems that are designed to optimise material handling, improve production efficiency and integrate seamlessly into automated manufacturing environments.
Over the years, CAMU has built its reputation on tailor-made engineering, long-term reliability and a customer-centric approach. Every project is developed in close collaboration with its customers, starting with the customer’ s production goals.
“ Rather than offering standardised equipment, we develop tailor-made solutions capable of processing a wide range of materials— including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and highstrength steels— while ensuring maximum reliability, process stability and long-term performance. This customer-oriented engineering philosophy has enabled us to establish long-lasting partnerships with some of the world’ s leading steel service centres and metal manufacturers,” CAMU told ISMR.
“ Innovation remains the driving force behind every new development. Advanced automation, premium-quality components, intelligent process control and bespoke engineering enable our systems to maximise productivity, minimise downtime and consistently deliver product quality. This helps our customers to strengthen their competitiveness in an increasingly demanding market,” it concluded.
The second generation of the founding family is now actively leading CAMU’ s future development.
At EuroBLECH 2026, visitors will discover CAMU’ s latest technologies, meet its technical and commercial specialists and discuss solutions designed to improve efficiency, product quality and long-term operational performance. n

Sheet metal software closes CAD CAM gap
SPI GmbH has released new versions of its SPI SheetMetal software for SOLIDWORKS and Autodesk Inventor. The add-ins extend the sheet metal capabilities of both CAD systems by ensuring production-oriented design and unfolding. Flat patterns are calculated using the actual material, tool and machine data from the shop floor, and then transferred to the CAM system.
“ This latest release deepens the link to TRUMPF TruTops Boost and incorporates additional data to enable automated downstream programming. The expanded SPI Boost Connect interface makes tool and material data from TruTops Boost directly available within the CAD environment. Designers can import tool lists, tool groups, materials and sheets from Boost with one click,” it explained.
“ Several lists can be imported simultaneously and are automatically merged into one consistent database. Bend deduction values play a special role: rather than being imported once, they are retrieved live from Boost with every unfolding. This
means that design always works with the values that apply on the machine, including any company-specific values stored in Boost. Manual reconciliation between design and production is no longer necessary,” it added.
Two further enhancements provide even more data for downstream automation. The GEO output now includes additional part information, such as centre of gravity and surface area, enabling costing and weight calculations to be carried out in production without manual intermediate steps. The extended geometry replacement function converts forming features, such as louvres or embosses, into a format that can be recognised and processed fully automatically by a CAM system( such as TruTops Boost) which can then assign the correct tool, position and orientation independently.
In production, different bend reliefs are often needed to those modelled in CAD. This traditionally involves manually correcting the flat pattern after every model change. SPI SheetMetal automatically replaces model reliefs with production-ready reliefs that are configured by the user just once. This version introduces a“ no smoothing” option for the models: the relief contour is transferred to the flat pattern unchanged, for individual bends or the entire part with one click.
“ Design and production now work with one set of data, and the flat pattern is calculated with the exact values to be used by the machine,” confirmed SPI.
Based in Ahrensburg near Hamburg, Germany, SPI GmbH is celebrating its 45th anniversary. Its software is used at around 5,000 workstations in 22 countries. It is a development partner of SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk and TRUMPF. n
