The EFB is the European Research Society for Sheet Metal Processing. It organises and promotes industrial research as joint projects in which experts from industry and research can participate or directly propose projects. In specialist working groups, project ideas and ongoing projects are presented, discussed and evaluated. EFB advises and initiates forward-looking research roadmaps.

The projects processed by the research institutions deal with topics from the entire technology chain of sheet metal processing. New research ideas, as well as the project progress and the results are discussed and evaluated by industry representatives and EFB members in specialist working groups.

EFB ensures the knowledge transfer of the project results via different channels, such as events and trade shows.

At EuroBLECH 2026, it will show a live demonstration of its new Combi machine with cold and calibrating grinding as well as deburring and edge rounding in one operation. Both FLADDER ® and Lock-it™ brands will be featured on the stand.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology( IWU) in Germany is an innovation-driven partner for research and development in production engineering. Around 670 employees work at sites in Chemnitz; Cottbus; Dresden; Leipzig; Wolfsburg and Zittau.

Our research and contract research encompass the entire manufacturing ecosystem, from individual components to processes, methods, complex machine systems and human interaction,” it said.

We develop technologies and intelligent production plants and optimise forming, cutting and joining manufacturing steps. Our services include lightweight structures and technologies for processing new materials, functional transfer to assembly groups and additive manufacturing( 3D printing). We also provide solutions for climate-neutral factory operations and large-scale production of hydrogen systems, paving the way for the transition to renewable energies,” it added.
