Depending upon the complexity of a part or application, our machines can be set up and each operation can run independently of the other, thereby simplifying the process and reducing tool complexities and costs,” he continued.
“ With this‘ process optimisation’, we deliver faster set-up times for part production. Small batch production is no longer costly and time-consuming and capital investment costs are reduced, leading to profit increases. Our customers have also adapted their existing tooling onto our machines, with some modifications.”
A key issue is the need for shorter delivery times. The greatest challenge in distribution is to deliver orders in record time.
“ To reduce delivery times, we need to increase process automation and start using advanced tools to try and predict market and industry trends, which helps us understand which types of machinery to develop and keep in stock. This means, for example, that we can anticipate peaks in demand and readjust the workload for machine manufacturing to meet critical deadlines. All of this streamlines the planning and execution process and cuts delivery times. Inventories are always a risk as they restrict capital, making efficiency and turnover quantity difficult,” added Gregory Wilfred.

YSM has also sought to embed sustainability into its machines, internal systems and operations.
“ Sustainable equipment design means energy efficiency and resource optimisation for our customers. We enhance drive and control systems to reduce energy consumption by incorporating high-efficiency components such as servo control and variable frequency motors. Mould design and processing methods are also optimised to minimize material waste and improve utilisation. Modular designs simplify maintenance and part replacement, effectively extending machine lifespan,” outlined Gregory Wilfred.
YSM has also made internal sustainability changes to its organisation that have improved

“ We have made smart manufacturing and digitalisation a key focus by implementing smart monitoring systems to track material inventory in real time, reducing downtime. Digital production processes reduce paper usage and increase data transparency and decision-making efficiency,” confirmed Gregory Wilfred.
“ Green supply chain management has also been set up. We have established a sustainability audit system for suppliers, prioritising partners with environmental certifications and social responsibility practices. Local sourcing is also promoted to reduce transportation emissions,” he continued.
“ Our ESG-oriented operations include carbon audits and energy-efficiency tracking. We conduct carbon footprint assessments of our facilities and set short- and mediumterm emission reduction goals. Energy-saving lighting, air conditioning and water circulation systems are installed, with regular performance evaluations in place,” he added.

A milestone anniversary
