path offline before starting the welding process . The sensor sends a light beam onto the material surface , receives the reflection and collects measurement data on the actual seam position and seam geometry .
Following this measurement process , data which was sent to the robot controller is compared to the programmed values . Deviations are corrected in the program and the robot then starts on the welding process which has been matched to the actual workpiece status .
“ The laser offline sensor enables one hundred per cent repeatability from one component to the next ,” explained Alex Reiff . “ This is a decisive factor in ensuring highquality requirements .”
Investments for the future
AKG France was the first site in the group to automate the welding of complete radiators . Sacha Jung ( Managing Director , AKG France ) is aiming to drive forward automated welding both at the French site and within the globally active group . On-site support for AKG France will be provided by CLOOS sales and service partner , Philippe Schweißtechnik .

The welding fumes are extracted directly at the source , so that no complex filter equipment is required .
