Established in 1946 in Japan by Isamu Amada , the AMADA Group includes around 90 companies including sales branches and production sites . It employs over 8,000 people worldwide . AMADA offers a comprehensive range of solutions for sheetmetal processing and has set up a network of production sites in strategic areas : Japan , Europe , North America and China .
Based on the concept of a “ place for cocreating the future of metalworking ”, it also set up the new AMADA Global Innovation Centre ( AGIC ) this year . It was opened by AMADA President & CEO , Tsutomu Isobe , on 3 February 2023 at the company ’ s head office in Isehara City , Kanagawa Prefecture ( Japan ). The AGIC facility has earned Science-Based Targets Initiative ( SBTi ) certification to support research and verification .
“ AGIC has been established to solve numerous issues faced by customers around the world , including their requests for ‘ support for new materials and processing technologies ’, ‘ improvement of automation and productivity ’ and production innovation . The existing Solution Centre was fully transformed to create a facility with a total floor space of approximately 30,000m ² and the latest functions ,” AMADA told ISMR .

Customers using the new AMADA Global Innovation Centre ( AGIC ) in Japan can explore the future of manufacturing and create innovation .
Form and function
AMADA is not just a manufacturer of machine tools ; it proposes innovative solutions to boost the technological edge of its customers . It promotes an integrated concept of its work , offering bespoke solutions and creating customised responses for each individual requirement .
Accordingly , AGIC is equipped with a diverse range of environments and functions . This includes the Innovation LABO , a laboratory space specifically for customers with nine labs , and the Innovation SITE where AMADA ’ s customers can interact with over 90 models of its latest machine and technology products . This also includes engineering expertise , utilising the experience accumulated by AMADA on the latest IoT ( Internet of Things ) systems .
There is no charge to AMADA ’ s customers who use AGIC services . AMADA provides the majority of materials for tests , although customers can also bring their own components to test
