Steel construction specialist , Schwevers Stahlhochbau , has made considerable project and production time savings with a new intelligent welding robot system .
Schwevers Stahlhochbau GmbH & Co . KG based in Kalkar , Germany , is a wellestablished partner for steel and steel building construction solutions . It constructs modern production halls ; warehouses ; sales halls ; office / commercial buildings ; leisure halls and sports halls using steel that is processed at its factory . The manufacturer takes on the full range of services from conception to consultancy and planning , including steel processing in its factory to turnkey construction , and builds functional , flexible and creative construction projects using steel .
Founded in 1937 , today it has around 63 employees , most of whom have been with the company for ten years or more . They include civil engineers ; architects ; technicians ; site managers ; welding engineers and steel fitters . On its 21,000m ² property , there is a 5,900m ² workshop and 1,600m ² of storage space . More than 60 % of its business partners and clients are existing customers .

The new welding robot needs minimal programming and enables workpieces , even in batch sizes of one , to be automatically welded .
“ I was looking forward to using the system ,” explained Maximilian Vogt , an equipment operator at Schwevers who had no previous experience with robot systems . “ The system was so easy to understand that I was able to operate it after a basic robot course . It ’ s also really fun to use .”
