PRODUCT REVIEWS Strip guiding components

“ Many stamping die components , such as strip guiding , are usually produced in small quantities which is quite expensive and timeconsuming . Using standardised components is a good option . Advantages include immediate availability , the combination possibilities of the different types of strip-guiding within the stamping die , and CAD data provided for the design ,” explained Meusburger , which offers an increasing number of strip-guiding solutions .
Its E 5632 round spring-loaded , strip-guiding pin with collar can be used for different strip thicknesses and is protected against wear by a hardened design . For dies with small installation space , the spring can be built into the bore from a diameter of 10mm .
Its E 5634 spring-loaded , strip guide ( blockshaped ) is mainly used when there are side cut-outs and therefore too little contact surface available . The strip guide can be mounted directly from the working plane . Using the centrally-positioned shoulder screw , only a small amount of installation space is required within the stamping die . The length of the shoulder screw also determines the spring displacement of the strip guide . The symmetrical design allows the block-shaped strip guide to be used on both sides .
“ Our E 5636 strip-guiding rail is always used with a strip lifter . Thanks to the screw connection on the top , it can be directly installed from the working plane . The hardened design ensures wear protection and the integrated infeed chamfers allow safe insertion of the punching strip . It can be used on both sides because of its symmetrical design ,” added Meusberger .
The small-diameter versions of its round E 5640 strip lifter are suitable for dies with limited installation space . The integrated initial bore enables the introduction of a clearance hole for a pilot pin . The lengths of the strip lifter with collar are matched to the strip-guiding pin
with collar , making it easy to combine these two elements .
“ The large contact surface of the blockshaped E 5644 strip lifter guarantees reliable lifting and forward pushing of the metal strip , even for large cut-outs . The E 5644 also has an integrated initial bore for the introduction of a clearance hole for the pilot pin and all functional dimensions are matched to the respective plate thicknesses ,” continued Meusberger .
“ Our E 5654 block-shaped , spring-loaded strip positioner can be used either springloaded on both sides for centring or rotated at 90 ° and fixed on one side for aligning to an outer edge . It is available from stock in three different sizes ,” it concluded .

Corrosion control

Sandblasting , water blasting and grinding are common methods of restoration and surface preparation for rusty metal parts or structures . However , for areas where these techniques cannot be used ( for a variety of reasons ), Cortec ® offers a surface preparation alternative to abrasive water vapour permeability . The combination blasting or grinding in the CorrVerter ® Rust of these materials converts surface rust Converter Primer . into a hydrophobic passive layer , creating a “ CorrVerter ® is a fast-drying , water-based specialty primer with excellent protection one-component primer for rusty surfaces . It against re-rusting of metal surfaces ,” it said . contains a unique formulation of chelating It can be used almost anywhere that a agents combined with a high solids tight layer of surface rust is present . Rather waterborne latex that has extremely low than requiring special equipment or abrasion to remove the corrosion , users of CorrVerter ® need to brush off loose rust before priming right over the surface . Once the surface is primed and passivated , it can be top-coated with either a water-based or solvent-based paint ( urethanes , epoxies , acrylics and alkyds ) for further protection and aesthetics .

Tube laser cutting

BLM Group USA has announced the availability of its new LT7F2 lasertube featuring a 2D cutting head . It is suitable for fabricators processing round tubes , square , rectangular and open profiles or special sections requiring straight vertical-type cutting .
“ This machine offers the benefits of our versatile LT7 , with 3D cutting head , at a value price point . The LT7F2 can handle tubes from 0.5 ” to 6 ” and up to 15.4lbs / ft ., and is available with either a 3kW or 4kW fibre laser ,” it told ISMR .
Similar to the original LT7 , the LT7F2 features automated changeover . At the end of each batch , the loader , spindle , steady rest and intermediate supports automatically adapt to the new section to be cut without any interruption of the production cycle .
Additionally , the LT7F2 offers flexible loading options that can be optimised according to production needs . Special and or / open profiles , short or long parts can be unloaded ( front or back ) while scrap is automatically managed . Users can pause the workflow to produce small batches , loading one or a few bars on the fly . Additionally , robotic loaders or automated storage systems can be integrated with the
lasertube for continuous flow production .
As with all BLM lasertube systems , the LT7F2 comes with BLM GROUP ’ s software interface and Active Tools , which are patented solutions that automatically adapt process parameters ( independent of operator experience ). n
