ISMR spoke with Stephan Pittner , its technical managing director , and Sieghard Thomas , its CEO , to discuss CLOOS ’ s strategic direction , new digital projects and latest innovations .
Innovation in focus
“ Our R & D activities take up 8-9 % of our total turnover and , consequently , we have doubled our portfolio of robots over the last two-three years . In the past , we had around eight-ten different robot models but we now offer more than 20 different robot types . We felt it was important to offer customers a robot arm for every conceivable welding application from small , thin parts in the automotive sector to special application robots for laser hybrid welding and grinding ,” explained CLOOS technical managing director , Stephan Pittner . He is responsible for all CLOOS development activities as well as its automation business unit .
